ADAM (Active Digital Asset Management) consists of a suite of components that allows you to create your own multimedia database to share your assets on your internal network and on the Internet. The ADAM solution allows for archiving all kinds of digital assets including pictures, video, sounds, text, fonts, Illustrations, QuarkXPress & Indesign pages and many others. For those documents the system recognizes, it will automatically create a thumbnail and a preview. This way, you get different versions of the same asset, which are ready for re-use in different applications such as print, office, presentations, web, etc. ADAM also provides full-text indexing, allowing a user to find all documents containing a word or a string of words.
Key Features - ADAM organizes your media assets
- ADAM automates your digital pre-press & production
- ADAM controls digital workflows
- ADAM creates your own custom application fit for your needs

‘ADAM' was developed using LEADTOOLS Raster Imaging SDK. Below are several examples of how LEADTOOLS was used in the ADAM solution.
- LEADTOOLS allowed us to create a preview and a thumbnail of every file archived in our system. A preview is typically around 500x500px; a thumbnail is 160x160px version. These thumbnails and previews can be RGB JPG or 8-bit PNG-files. We also have the ability to rotate these thumbnails and previews
- Retrieve file-information (e.g. pixels width, pixels height, bit depth…) of a file being archived.
- We have a module called Resize On Export which allows a user to order a specific file and have ADAM automatically convert it to another file-format. We could have for example a 600 dpi CMYK TIF in the database and users could order a 72 dpi RGB JPG of maximum 1024 pixels using ADAM. This conversion can be done on-the-fly using LEADTOOLS.
- Extract IPTC-information from TIFF-files.
- An administrator or developer using our system can decide to watermark every thumbnail or preview displayed. These watermarked images are calculated dynamically using LEADTOOLS.
“We needed to give our customers the ability to create a preview and a thumbnail of almost any graphical file format that they use and LEADTOOLS helped us accomplish that.”
“We chose the LEADTOOLS Raster Imaging Toolkit as our primary graphic engine because of its performance, support for many different file-formats and its very rich API which gives us complete control over the image.” - Michael Vanhoutte, ADAMOnline
