LEADTOOLS functions in the Medical Image Processing category
LEADTOOLS provides an advanced set of functions that are especially designed for enhancing and analyzing medical images regardless of their format or data distribution. Enhance the image or highlight the details by shifting, selecting, subtracting, removing the background for better visuals or using the multi-scale enhancement technique. These functions can also analyze a specified area of the image based on its colors and connectivity to other similar regions for more accurate diagnostics.

- Adaptive Contrast
-
Gives more contrast to regions of low contrast.
- Histogram Contrast
-
Increases or decreases the contrast of the image using its histogram to determine the median brightness as opposed to using an arbitrary value of 128. This function finds the median brightness of the image, then brightens the pixels with values above the median and darkens the pixels with values below the median.
- Gamma Correct
-
Adjusts the intensity of colors in an image by changing the gamma constant that is used to map the intensity values.
- Change Contrast
-
Increases or decreases the contrast of the image.
- Change Intensity
-
Changes the intensity (brightness) of the image.
- Change Saturation
-
Increases or decreases the saturation of colors in an image.

Linearizes the number of pixels and enhance the details in an image based on the specified (RGB, YUV, or GRAY) color space by redistributing the colors intensities according to its histogram data.
- Change Hue Saturation Intensity
-
Change the hue, saturation and intensity for all or specified colors in the image
- Color Level
-
Applies color leveling to an image. It changes the image shadows, midtones and highlights

-
Adds or averages the images in a list.
- Add Weighted Bitmaps
-
Adds or averages the images in a list according to their weight factors, this function minimizes the noise and improves night vision images
- Gamma Correct Extended
-
Adjusts the intensity of colors in an image by changing the gamma constant that is used to map the intensity values. Either of two different color spaces can be specified.
- Local Histogram Equalize
-
Linearizes the number of pixels locally in an image, based on the specified color space. This can be used to bring out the detail in dark areas of an image, and smooth the edges between blocks.
- Remap Hue
-
Uses a lookup table to change an image's hue values.
- Adjust Tint
-
Adjusts the image tint by changing the colors in an image by using two separate color wheel rotations.
- Solarize
-
Applies an effect that mimics the accidental exposure of photographic film to light. It does so by inverting all color data with an intensity value greater than or equal to the threshold that you specify.
- Brightness Contrast Intensity
-
Applies contrast, brightness and intensity adjustments to enhance the image tonal range
- Median Filter
-
Changes the color of each pixel in an image to the median color of pixels in its neighborhood.
- Gaussian Filter
-
Smoothes or blurs an image by applying a Gaussian filter to the specified image.
- Smooth Edges
-
Smoothes the rough edges in the image
- Unsharp Mask
-
Sharpens the specified image by applying the unsharp mask. Unsharpen mask tends to show more details in areas of an image that are normally not visible.
- Binary Filter
-
This filter imposes a binary filter on an image. It performs a user defined effect by using suitable mask.
- Dynamic Binary

Intensity detection is used to threshold an image based on intensity. Thresholding can be helpful in measuring objects such as a tumor in an image.
- Auto Binary Segment
-
Applies binary segmentation to the image using an automatically calculated threshold based on a two-peak method of statistical analysis of the histogram
- Get Histogram
-
Show the color frequencies in the image.
- Stretch Intensity
-
Enhances the image details by increasing the contrast (image levels) in an image by centering, maximizing, and proportioning the range of intensity values according to its histogram values. Unlike ordinary contrast, Stretch Intensity always retains the original number of different intensity values. (Ordinary contrast adjustments can lose values at the high and low ends of the scale.)
