LEADTOOLS currently supports 150+ image file formats and sub formats, and continues to expand support for new formats and new format sub-types in response to the ever changing demands of developers worldwide.

Of the 150+ image file formats and sub formats, LEADTOOLS supports those formats used most on the Internet -- GIF, JPG and PNG.

GIF (Transparent and Animated GIF)

LEADTOOLS GIF support includes functionality to load, save and convert GIF to and from any other supported raster format. LEADTOOLS supports GIF files from 1 to 8 bits per pixel. Additionally, with LEADTOOLS you can control all properties pertaining to animated GIF's allowing you to create and modify animations for the web. Also, you can control the transparency color to allow the background of the web page to show through certain areas within the image.

JPEG

LEADTOOLS supports JPEG files that are 8 bits per pixel grayscale and 24 bits per pixel color. Also, LEADTOOLS includes functionality to control the q-factor or quality factor from a range of 2 to 255 allowing you to get the perfect balance of compression and visual quality when saving or converting images to JPG. Also, 4:4:4, 4:2:2 and 4:1:1 color spaces are supported to give you the most control possible over the final size of the image.

PNG (Transparent PNG)

LEADTOOLS PNG format support includes functionality to load, save and convert to and from PNG files that are 1 to 8 and 24 bits per pixel. Transparency can be controlled in PNG files with an alpha channel that maps the transparent pixels.
