LEAD CMP Factors An outline of CMP parameterizationCMP and JPEG compression alogorithms are lossy. Extremely high compression ratios can be achieved by throwing away high-frequency image information.There is a tradeoff between the amount of image degradation (high frequency information lost) and the amount of compression achieved, ranging from practically invisible to the human eye at small compression ratios to visibly "blocky" at the very highest compression ratios. If you need or want superior lossless or lossy compression, try JPEG2000 or LEAD CMW wavelet based compressions. CMP always compresses better than JPEG with the same amount of visual image loss.
