Introduction

The LEADTOOLS OCR COM object provides numerous properties, methods and events to let you:

$image\sqrblit.gif$ Add page(s) to the internal OCR list of pages.

$image\sqrblit.gif$ Select the language to use in recognizing the OCR pages.

$image\sqrblit.gif$ Recognize a variety of documents, including facsimiles, photocopies and documents with complex layouts.

$image\sqrblit.gif$ Save the document in any of several text output formats.

$image\sqrblit.gif$ Output a markup language that contains a rich set of markups and is useful for applications that will process the data after recognition and to extract the information provided in the markups.

$image\sqrblit.gif$ Use the OCR engine text verification system to view and interact with the recognition process to verify recognized text.

$image\sqrblit.gif$ Correct certain document characteristics such as noise, darkness, lightness, etc. to get the best possible character recognition.

LEADTOOLS OCR includes the following COM Object developed by LEAD Technologies, Inc.:

$image\sqrblit.gif$ ILEADRasterDocument provides controls for dealing with OCR functionality.

LEADTOOLS OCR COM supports UNICODE. For more information on using the samples in this help file with UNICODE, please refer to A Special Note About UNICODE Support.

The toolkit comes in 32-bit Document/Medical and non-Document/Medical editions. You can use LEADTOOLS OCR COM in any programming environment that supports COM Objects, including the following:

	Visual C++ 5.0 and later (32-bit)
	Visual Basic 5.0 and later (32-bit)
	Delphi 4.0 and later
	Visual FoxPro 6.0 and later
