LEAD MPEG-2 Video Codecs
(Download only) MPEG-2 is a high quality video compression and is primarily targeted for applications that require higher bit rates or high bandwidth usage, most commonly DVD videos, Super VCD (SVCD), box top DVR's and digital television.
The LEAD MPEG-2 decoder supports several levels and profiles. Levels (source formats) supported range from Limited Definition (VCR quality) to full HDTV - each with a range of bit rates. In addition to this flexibility in source formats, the LEAD MPEG-2 codec supports several different profiles. Each profile offers a different set of compression tools that together make up the coding system.
Key features of the LEAD MPEG-2 Video Codec:
MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 output stream.
Low, main & high Profiles implementation.
Inter-prediction accuracy of 1/2 pixel.
Preprocessing frame-rate adjustment.
Fixed and variable bit rate compression options, with a wide range of quality factors.
Preset compression options for VCD, SVCD and DVD.
LEAD's MPEG-2 video codec is a multimedia compressor / decompressor that registers into the Windows® collection of multimedia drivers and integrates with any application using DirectShow. Existing video software, such as Windows® Media Player® and Ulead Media Studio®, can utilize this codec to play, create and edit industry standard (ISO/IEC 13818-2) MPEG-2 streams.
LEAD offers the following versions of the MPEG-2 Video Codec:
LEAD MPEG-2 Video Decoder $19.95
LEAD MPEG-2 Standard Video Encoder $39.95
LEAD MPEG-2 Professional Video Encoder $400
In addition to the capabilities supported in the LEAD MPEG-2 Standard Video Encoder, the LEAD MPEG-2 Professional Video Encoder also provides the following:
Results that are up to 30% smaller than the standard version
More control over the bit rate
A 2 pass encode option
A configuration script which allows for different portions of the video to be compressed with different q factors.
