LEADTOOLS Medical Multimedia Filter Pack*
All you need to compress and decompress DICOM Videos
The Medical Multimedia Filter Pack is a suite of state-of-the-art DirectShow filters for compressing and decompressing video and audio data inside DICOM files. This feature-rich product was designed to eliminate the complexity from converting cine images and video streams to DICOM objects including X-ray Angiography (XA), Ultrasound (US), Visible Light (VL), Secondary Capture (SC) and much more. This Filter Pack utilizes the most advanced compression algorithms used in the industry and approved by the DICOM standard including MPEG-2, Motion JPEG, and JPEG2000.
The Medical Multimedia Filter Pack includes two components: the Writer and the Reader.
Writer (encode video sequences in DICOM) $495
The writer component includes the DirectShow filters that are used for creating DICOM objects with compressed video and audio data.
Key Features:
Ability to create
DICOM files with both video and audio using MPEG-2 compression. The user
can adjust the different attributes of the MPEG-2 stream including bit
rate and quality factor.
Ability to create
DICOM files with video data (cine images) using lossy and lossless JPEG
and JPEG2000 compression with the option to adjust quality factor.
Add video data
to either an existing DICOM file or create a new one from a set of predefined
DICOM classes or IODs.
Accepts 8-bit
RGB, 24-bit RGB, 16-bit UYVY or 16-bit YUY2 data.
Includes a number
of video processing filters including:
Auto Contrast
Auto Intensity
Auto Level
Video Text Overlay
Video Crop
Can be used with
an existing application that uses DirectShow, or programmatically from
the LEADTOOLS Medical Imaging toolkit.
Examples of DICOM objects that can be created using the Writer component:
Secondary Capture
Multi-Frame True Color Image Storage.
Video Endoscopic
Image Storage.
Video Photographic
Image Storage.
Video Microscopic
Image Storage.
Ultrasound Multi-frame
Image Storage.
X-Ray Radiofluoroscopic
Image.
X-Ray Angiographic
Image Storage.
Secondary Capture
Multi-frame Grayscale Byte Image Storage.
Secondary Capture
Multi-frame Grayscale Word Image Storage.
MPEG-2 Encoding in DICOM:
MPEG-2 is a high
quality video compression and is primarily targeted for applications that
require higher bitrates or high bandwidth usage. The DICOM standard uses
MPEG-2 lossy compression with middle range quality, which typically delivers
between 30 Mbytes and 60 Mbytes per minute of video.
The DICOM MPEG-2
objects created using the writer fully adhere to the rules of MPEG-2 encoding
in DICOM which are described by the new transfer syntax “MPEG-2 Main Profile
@ Main Level” (1.2.840.10008.1.2.4.100).
Some of the typical
modalities that can take advantage of MPEG-2 encoding in DICOM include
Endoscopy, Cardiology and Micro-surgery.
DirectShow filters included as part of the Writer component:
LEAD DICOM Write
Filter.
LEAD MPEG-2 Standard
Video Encoder.
LEAD MPEG-2 Multiplexer.
LEAD MCMP-MJPEG
Video Codec.
LEAD Auto Contrast
Filter.
LEAD Auto Intensity
Filter.
LEAD Auto Level
Filter.
LEAD RGB Converter.
LEAD Video Text
Overlay Filter.
LEAD Video Crop
Filter.
Reader (play DICOM videos in any media player) $49
The reader component includes a set of DirectShow filters that register into the Windows collection of multimedia drivers and integrates with any application using DirectShow. Existing video software, such as Windows® Media Player® and Ulead Media Studio®, can utilize these filters to play video (cine) data in a DICOM file.
Key Features:
Can be used with
an existing application that supports DirectShow, or programmatically
from the LEADTOOLS Medical Imaging toolkit.
Ability to play
or Cine any DICOM file with any type of compression including MPEG-2,
lossy and lossless JPEG and JPEG2000.
Fast and optimized
video decompression.
Playback options
include control of the stream speed by changing the frame playback rate.
In addition to the basic stream and speed control functionality, LEADTOOLS
developers can "preview" a LEAD DICOM dataset in memory before
saving to disk.
DICOM Cine Playback
- DICOM Cine Loop:
A cine loop is
the continuous display of a set of images or frames that convey the effect
of motion and is considered a very useful diagnostic tool. With the help
of the reader the user can treat DICOM cine as a regular video file:
Play: start or resume DICOM cine play.
Pause: pause DICOM cine play.
Stop: stop play mode and go to the beginning of the video clip.
Previous Frame: display the previous frame in the cine loop.
Next Frame: display the next frame in the cine loop.
DirectShow filters included as part of the reader:
LEAD DICOM Read
Filter
LEAD MPEG-2 Video
Decoder
LEAD MPEG Audio Converter
