Setting

Description

TRUE

Use the DVD Source object.

FALSE

Do not use the DVD Source object.

Setting the UseDVDSource property in the play object to VARIANT_TRUE instructs the play object to use the DVD Source filter for DVD playback instead of the default DVD Navigator. Normally, for playback it is better to use the default DVD Navigator as it makes the playback act like a DVD (with menus).

When the DVD Source filter is used, the DVD playback is more like the playback of a normal multimedia file. For example, the seek bar will function from the beginning of the selected playlist (edited through the ltmmDVDSource interfaces) to the end. But there will be no menus. DVD Source was actually created for conversions, thus making it possible to select the important parts of the video and ignoring all others. Another advantage of using the DVD Source filter is in previewing chapters. It makes it possible to accurately preview chapter selections used for a conversion.

Additionally, your application can use the DVD source object to automatically select a certain audio track or subtitle stream. For example, an application might want to automatically select Spanish audio track and/or French subtitles if available.
