LEADTOOLS DICOM C DLL Help > Features of LEADTOOLS DICOM > DICOM Communication > DICOM Associate Connections > Closing a DICOM Associate Connection |
When the DICOM Associate connection is no longer needed, the connection should be closed. The proper steps for closing a DICOM Associate connection are as follows:
The SCU that wishes to close the connection calls L_DicomSendReleaseRequest. This generates a call to the RECEIVERELEASEREQUESTCALLBACK on the SCP.
In response to the call to RECEIVERELEASEREQUESTCALLBACK, the SCP calls L_DicomSendReleaseResponse. This generates a call to RECEIVERELEASERESPONSECALLBACK on the SCU.
At this point L_DicomClose can be called to close the connection.
Please note that while calling L_DicomSendAbort will also close the connection (depending on the server), the method outlined above is the preferred method.
