HRESULT IltmfConvert_EstimateOutputSize(pConvert, Duration, pSize) |
C++ Syntax |
HRESULT EstimateOutputSize(Duration, pSize) |
IltmfConvert *pConvert; |
/* pointer to an interface */ |
double Duration; |
/* duration in seconds */ |
double *pSize; |
/* pointer to a variable */ |
Retrieves the estimated conversion output size, in bytes, for the specified duration.
Parameter |
Description |
pConvert |
Pointer to an IltmfConvert interface. |
Duration |
Value the represents the duration in seconds for which to retrieve the estimated output size. Pass the value 1 to estimate the conversion output size for the whole file duration. |
pSize |
Pointer to a variable to be updated with the estimated output size for the duration. |
Returns
S_OK |
The function was successful. |
<> S_OK |
An error occurred. Refer to the Error Codes or the HRESULT error codes in the MediaFoundation documentation. |
Comments
The estimated output size is calculated using the following equation:
Size = (Bitrate * Duration) / 8.
The returned size depends on the state of the convert object.
If the object is in the running state, the returned size is related to the actual number of bytes that have been written.
While if the object is not running, the returned size is a theoretical value dependent on the conversion settings and the chosen encoding settings.
