Hi,

I was always thinking that video and audio data is more sutiable to send over the UDP network? Why LeadTools choose to send it over the TCP network? Is it because LeadTools has a better leadTools version of TCP network?

Best Regards

Ferdinand Ng

Thank you for contacting LEADTOOLS. One of the main reasons why we are currently using TCP to broadcast the audio/video is because the packets are guaranteed to arrive in order. When using UDP, the packets are not guaranteed to arrive in order.

UDP is useful for multicast transmissions. However, most firewalls will block UDP packets and the users would need to tweak firewall settings to allow the receiving of UDP packets. We feel that this is something most users will not know what to do or will not have the ability to do so. So we chose TCP/IP because it works reliably.

We will consider adding support for UDP when the common firewalls have better support for it.
