Annotations are an important part of many document and medical imaging workflows. They allow users to mark up images with various shapes, notes, highlights, and redactions without having to permanently alter the image or document itself. One difficulty developers face is that annotations are not standardized. There are many standards, both open and proprietary, but not all of them play nicely with each other.

JavaScript frameworks. Love them, hate them, or die on a digital hill proclaiming the wonders of the newest and most cleverly named prefix to "JS," they all just boil down to something to help you build a web application. Thankfully, the LEADTOOLS HTML5/JavaScript Document Viewer can work with any of them, and we've had a recent wave of requests from customers wanting to integrate our viewer into the JavaScript framework they are using in their project.

The latest update of LEADTOOLS V19 includes an MVC project using the LEADTOOLS DocumentViewer. Additionally, the services have been refactored so that the services configuration part of this paper is out of date and no longer applies. However, we have decided to continue to make this paper available because there is useful information on configuring CORS in IIS that applies to many different applications.

Few things have as great an impact on document imaging as cleanup. Its benefits reach far beyond the the improved visuals and readability. Document image cleanup is the salt to the meatier document imaging technologies like OCR, barcode, PDF, forms recognition, archival, and the like—it enhances them.

By correctly aligning the image and removing obstacles around the important areas, the recognition processes can scan the image and look for the predictable patterns that make up the text and data that you wish to extract.
