If you have any familiarity with Forms Recognition and/or OCR, you may understand that those technologies typically rely on the master template and the document you wish to recognize having the same layout and proportions. Tax forms and applications fit this nicely since as long as the documents can get cleaned up and aligned, the zones and fields on the form to recognize will easily be found. Invoices, bills and other unstructured documents need special processing which LEADTOOLS masterfully developed and exposed in this new programmer-friendly toolkit. We hope you enjoy the video!

New White Paper: Converting and Viewing Documents with LEADTOOLS

Now that LEADTOOLS Version 19 has been released, we’ll be using our white papers to dive into the new features in greater detail. This month’s white paper is on the LEADTOOLS Document Converter and Document Viewer.

These exciting new frameworks will help developers create, read, and annotate raster and SVG images, annotations, thumbnails, text data and metadata from supported document types such as PDF, DOC, XLS, TIFF, JPEG and more. By using Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) as an intermediate format, the Document Viewer and Converter are able to work with any document, vector or raster image file format in a uniform fashion. Moreover, 100% accurate document-to-document conversion can be accomplished without the need for OCR.

Converting and Viewing Documents with LEADTOOLS
Convert a Word document into a PDF file. View the PDF, annotate it and then save it. This process sounds simple enough, right? What if the original document was a TIFF file? Is it just as easy to convert a TIFF to a PDF and then view, annotate and save the new file? What if you have ten different file types to view, annotate and save, and what if those different files are both raster images and vector documents? And what if your job requirement specified that you can only do this task in one application, using one viewer control? This commonly requested task no longer sounds so simple. The new Document Converter and Document Viewer found in LEADTOOLS Version 19 not only make it possible to view and annotate raster and vector based file formats in the same control, they make it easy.
