Using LEADTOOLS HTML5 with Intel XDK to Create Cross-platform Mobile App

Posted on 2019-07-31 16:42:14 by Nick Villalobos

The LEADTOOLS HTML5 / JavaScript interface was built with more than just web-based, cross-platform application development in mind. Did you know you can also create native and hybrid apps that can be published to mobile application stores for iOS, Android and Windows Phone? That is actually the case for almost any HTML5 application, but there are libraries and tools that help make that process easier.

One such tool is Intel XDK. In the same way that LEADTOOLS expedites and simplifies all of your imaging requirements such as display, annotations, OCR, barcode, DICOM, PACS and more, Intel XDK helps with the deployment and device integration aspect. Need access to the camera, local files and more? Want to write only one application and deploy it to multiple app stores? This is all possible with Intel XDK, and LEADTOOLS plugs into this innovative development environment without a hitch.

LEADTOOLS latest release included the introduction of the Xamarin Camera Control. This control eliminates the need to write native iOS or Android camera code. Developers can now engineer the camera control into their Xamarin.Forms application with one line of code.

Our newest article on Code Project is a tutorial on how to extract data from barcodes from images that have been taken using the Xamarin Camera Control. This example is great for developers who have been using the native iOS/Android code to access the devices camera to recognize barcodes.

Universal Annotations Design and Format in LEADTOOLS 18

Posted on 2013-04-12 17:01:13 by Greg

Annotation and Markup has been a staple feature in LEADTOOLS Document Imaging SDKs for almost two decades. Over the years it has undergone several transformations, some cosmetic and some structural. LEADTOOLS Annotations, which started as a CDLL API, were also ported to new technologies as they came along: C++ Classes, .NET, WPF, Silverlight, HTML5 and more. Not only did we add new interfaces with the release of LEADTOOLS Anywhere™ in Version 18, but the Annotations library took on another big change that will not only future-proof the library, but also make cross-platform application development a breeze.

Compared to our current offering, the new annotations design and format in LEADTOOLS V18 most closely resembles the .NET interface. Developers using .NET, WPF, Silverlight, HTML5/JavaScript, WinRT, iOS, OS X and Android now share identical libraries. On top of the uniform programming interface design, the annotation file format which LEADTOOLS loads and saves has been standardized as well, allowing annotations to be loaded and saved in any LEADTOOLS application, regardless of its development platform.
