The Unsharp Mask Video filter enhances edges and improves the quality of movies that look "washed out". The Unsharp Mask Video Effect produces better results than the Edge Enhance Video Effect, but is slower. The property page is shown in the figure below:
The Unsharp Mask property page provides a use interface for changing the filter's attributes.
Changes will be applied directly to the streaming media with the ability to set them permanently by selecting Apply or OK, or to abandon changes by selecting Cancel. Positioning the mouse pointer over a control displays general information for that control. The following table shows the controls and their descriptions:
Control |
Description |
Enable check box |
Enables/Disables the effect. |
Amount slider |
Gets or sets the amount of sharpening. Possible values range from 0 to 500. For any value below the lower limit, a minimum value of 0 will be used. For any value beyond the upper limit, a maximum value of 500 will be used. The default value is 250. |
Radius slider |
Gets or sets the radius value. This value indicates the size of the neighborhood used for blurring each pixel of the video sample. Possible values range from 1 to 100. For any value below the lower limit, a minimum value of 1 will be used. For any value beyond the upper limit, the maximum value of 100 will be used. The default value is 1. |
Threshold slider |
Gets or sets the threshold value. This value indicates the threshold for modifying the original value of the pixel. If the difference in the original pixel value and the blurred pixel value is greater than the threshold value, the original pixel value will be modified. Possible values range from 0 to 255. For any value below the lower limit, a minimum value of 0 will be used. For any value beyond the upper limit, the maximum value of 255 will be used. The default value is 0. |
