Here are just some tips to keep in mind in order to receive the best possible recognition when working with the LEADTOOLS ICR SDK and Forms Recognition.

  • When creating the Master Form Template, it is highly recommended that the document needs to be blank.

  • Make sure that both files, the template and document that you are recognizing, are the same DPI.

  • The handwriting needs to be block print and not cursive.

  • ICR will work best to detect characters/numbers when recognizing each character one at a time from a single cell. You are able to use the "Cell Dropout" option so that the engine will not recognize the cell itself as extra characters.

  • If the human eye is having a hard time reading the text then the ICR Engine will struggle even more.

  • You do not want to have any broken letters. For example if you have a lowercase "L" ( l ) and it is broken halfway up, then the engine will most likely mistake that for a lowercase "I" ( i ). In this case, you may want to run the MinimumCommand on the area to attempt to fill in those blank pixels.

  • The better the handwriting, the better the recognition will be.

  • Make sure that you have the checked the box for "Enable ICR"
