I currently have b/w tiff's that sometimes have lots of dots noise which I need to clean up before I OCR. Problem is if I remove dots on image w/o the noise it removes valid dots as in :;.i! etc. I would like to know if there is a way to check a page to see the level of noise and if over 50% then I can run dotremove else don't run. Just wondering if there is some way to do this.

There is no function
in LEADTOOLS to estimate noise level, but you can perform dot removal and
restrict the effect to dots smaller than specific dimensions. This way, larger dots such as : and ! are not affected.
