I am using Leadtools 14.5. If I use leadtools to create a 16bit mono/greyscale tiff image I cannot open this image in Microsoft Word. If I create a 16bit colour tiff image it works fine. Does anyone know why this happens (is it Microsofts fault?) or if there is a magic combination of tiff options I can use to hget Word to read the tiff file.

Thanks,

Andy

Not all TIFF sub-types are
supported by all applications. For example, 16-bit grayscale in its native form
is not supported by Windows GDI altogether. Software that has support for it
(such as LEADTOOLS) actually maps the 16-bit gray levels to the 8-bit levels supported by Windows when they display it.

Unless you need the full grayscale range, you might
want to reduce the image to 8-bit before saving it to make it compatible with non-LEAD applications.
