Due to customer demand, LEADTOOLS dll’s no longer require the SP1 version of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 runtime files.  Customers affected by this issue are customers who deployed their C/C++ application with LEADTOOLS dll’s with a build date of 8/5/2007 - 1/18/2008 AND you fall into one of the below categories:

1)    You used Visual Studio 2005 SP1 to create an application that dynamically links to the C/C++ runtime.
2)    You deployed the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable dll’s locally to their application directory (did not use the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package as part of the software distribution).

If you are affected by this issue, you have the below options to resolve it with the latest LEADTOOLS dll’s:

1)    If you do not wish to rebuild your application, you can remove the local versions of the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 C/C++ runtime files and install the runtime using the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package.
2)    You can rebuild your application and specify a manual manifest that targets the RTM version of the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 C/C++ runtime. You can then deploy the RTM versions of the runtime files locally with your application instead of the SP1 versions. It is important you create a manual manifest because if Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 is installed, the compiler will use a default manifest which targets the SP1 versions. If your exe does not find these versions, it will fail to load.

Attached is a simple tutorial of how to use our manifests in VS 2005 as well as some example manifest files.  These are actually the same manifest files that now ship in the latest installer of the toolkit.
