At work, I am receiving tif documents containing data that would best
serve me in a spread-sheet format. I was hoping you guys might offer
some guidance.

1. Can OCR software take a tif image and translate the text in that image into alpha-numeric characters?

2. If so, which would you recommend?

3. If anybody has a better idea, I'm open to suggestions.

Are looking for an end-user application or a programmers' toolkit to create your own application?
If you need a ready end-user application, I'm afraid LEAD does not have such a program. We only have OCR features as part of a toolkit for programmers.
This toolkit can save the recognized text as Microsoft Excel (xls) output format.
