When printing from an application such as Notepad in Windows XP, Vista and 7, you might get an output file with extra added colors. This is because Windows has an option to 'Smooth edges of screen fonts' which causes the text to be displayed (and printed) with extra shades of colors around the text.
You can disable the option from the 'System Properties' => 'Performance Options' => 'Visual Effects' tab.
