Our project is LeadTools 17.5, Win 7, x64, .NET 3.5. We use a SampleSource and ConvertCtrl to convert our raw images to different video types (AVI,MPEG, compressed/uncompressed, etc.). We would like to be able to check for available space on the target drive before going ahead with such a conversion. Other than having the sample source deliver the file to a temporary location and then measuring it's size - is there a way for us to estimate/predict the resultant file size in advance, based on the number of frames, frame size, output format, etc.?
I have the same question for the DICOM format, which I will post to the appropriate forum.

This depends on the format you use.
In all cases, you can try to use our Convert control's EstimateOutputSize() method, but it might not always give accurate results for the reasons below.
For uncompressed video, the size is easy to calculate since the frame size will be fixed.
Also, for compression types that employ fixed output bit rate, you can estimate the output size based on the bitrate and duration.
However, if you are using a compression type that has a variable, non-fixed bit rate, the size of compressed video frames will depend greatly on the image contents of the frames themselves.
