This past weekend, I was very fortunate compared to so many people that recently faced and are still having to deal with Hurricane Florence. At home, the power is out, but there is no major damage. I am fortunate. Since there is nothing I can do at the moment about the power and everyone around me is safe, I decided to forget my first-world problems, go to the office, which does have power, and write a small and simple app that solves some common first-world problems. I am hoping that you will find this tool useful, too!

One of the most important aspects of documents and record-keeping is the ability to redact sensitive information. Originally done permanently with blank ink on paper, the need for redaction certainly carried over into document imaging as processes and archives started going paperless. LEADTOOLS has many ways to redact documents, but today we're going to look at an example you might not have thought of before and would be right at home within any ECM or eDiscovery application.

This project from Hadi will showcase the LEADTOOLS OCR SDK as well as the LEADTOOLS Annotations SDK in a WinForms application alongside the built-in Windows Speech Synthesis namespace System.Speech.Synthesis to show how users can take in an image and have the computer read the text found on the image.

What it Does

This HTML5/JavaScript web application shows how using LEADTOOLS Version 19 can be integrated with other web platforms such as Meteor and Bootstrap.

HTML5 is certainly the way of the future, but as many web developers know, adoption can be slow. In many cases, older browsers such as IE8 is still in use enterprise-wide and a lightweight, feature packed solution is still required. LEADTOOLS pioneered lightweight ASP.NET Web Forms imaging years ago and is still a popular choice. Though not as flashy and responsive as HTML5, the heavy-lifting jobs such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR) are still done on the server side.
