MapInfo Interchange File format is a vector file format which is produced by MapInfo Corporation. It is an ASCII text file that fully describes the contents of a MapInfo table (the graphical component of map interchange data) which is stored in a corresponding MID file.
This file format is not supported in the Imaging Pro toolkits. Read and write support for this format is provided in the Document and Medical Imaging toolkits.
The default extension used by this format is: MIF.
This file format is supported by the TatukGIS Viewer and by FME (from Safe Corporation).
LEAD supports versions 1, 2, 300, and 450 of this format.
This file format supports layers, grouping objects, and embedded raster objects.
