The LEAD MPEG2 Multiplexer can be used to create MPEG-2 Transport content, as defined in ISO/IEC 13818-1. This data can be saved to files or it can be streamed using RTP, UDP or TCP streaming. MPEG2 transport streams may contain video, audio and metadata information.
The compressions supported for video are:
MPEG-1 Video compression
MPEG-2 Video compression
MPEG-4 Video compression
H.264 Video compression
H.265 Video compression
The compressions supported for audio are:
MPEG-1 Audio compression (Layer 2 or Layer 3)
AC3 Audio compression (preferred audio compression for DVD)
LPCM Audio format (uncompressed audio used for DVD)
AAC Audio compression (preferred audio compression for MP4 files)
The multiplexer also supports metadata associated with the stream (usually in KLV form). The filter also provides the ILMKlvBuilder interface, which can be used to build KLV private data conforming to SMPTE 336M-2001.The KLV data can use universal (MISB EG 0104.4) or local (MISB STD 0601.4) keys. The local keys can be saved using the Minimum Metadata Set (MMS) as described in the MISB STD 0902.1 standard.
To stream MPEG-2 content, use the LEAD MPEG2 Transport UDP Sink filter.
MPEG-2 Transport content is widely used for streaming video and audio from satellite TV and from remote cameras. Most cameras in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) stream video in MPEG-2 Transport format.
This multiplexer is provided in evaluation form. For more information, refer to Evaluation Versions of Multimedia Filters and Codecs.
