L_AutoBinaryBitmap

#include "l_bitmap.h"

L_LTIMGCLR_API L_INT L_AutoBinaryBitmap(pBitmap, uFlags)

Applies binary segmentation to the bitmap using an automatically calculated threshold based on a two-peak method of statistical analysis of the histogram.

Parameters

pBITMAPHANDLE pBitmap

Pointer to the bitmap handle referencing the bitmap to segment.

L_UINT32 uFlags

Reserved for future use. Must be 0.

Returns

Value Meaning
SUCCESS The function was successful.
< 1 An error occurred. Refer to Return Codes.

Comments

This function does not support signed data images. It returns the error code ERROR_SIGNED_DATA_NOT_SUPPORTED if a signed data image is passed to this function.

Use L_AutoBinaryBitmap when you simply want to apply binary segmentation to the bitmap using an automatically calculated threshold based on a two-peak method of statistical analysis on its histogram. Use L_DynamicBinaryBitmap if you want to convert a bitmap into a black and white image without changing its bits per pixel by using a local threshold value for each pixel of the image. Use L_AutoBinarizeBitmap if you want:

The bitmap is transformed into a binary image using a threshold calculated automatically based on statistical features of the bitmap. Best results are obtained with grayscale bitmaps.

If the bitmap has a region, the effect will be applied on the region only.

This function supports 12 and 16-bit grayscale and 48 and 64-bit color images. Support for 12 and 16-bit grayscale and 48 and 64-bit color images is available in the Document and Medical Imaging toolkits.

This function does not support 32-bit grayscale images. It returns the error code ERROR_GRAY32_UNSUPPORTED if a 32-bit grayscale image is passed to this function.

Example

The following example loads a bitmap and applies automatic binary segmentation on it:

L_INT AutoBinaryBitmapExample(L_VOID)
{
   L_INT nRet;
   BITMAPHANDLE LeadBitmap; /* Bitmap handle to hold the loaded image. */

   /* Load the bitmap, keeping the bits per pixel of the file */
   nRet = L_LoadBitmap(MAKE_IMAGE_PATH(TEXT("ImageProcessingDemo\\Beauty16.jpg")), &LeadBitmap, sizeof(BITMAPHANDLE), 0, ORDER_BGR, NULL, NULL);
   if(nRet !=SUCCESS)
      return nRet;

   /* Apply Auto Binary Segment */
   nRet = L_AutoBinaryBitmap (&LeadBitmap, 0);
   if(nRet !=SUCCESS)
      return nRet;
   nRet = L_SaveBitmap(MAKE_IMAGE_PATH(TEXT("Result.BMP")), &LeadBitmap, FILE_BMP, 24, 0, NULL);
   if(nRet !=SUCCESS)
      return nRet;

   //free bitmap
   if(LeadBitmap.Flags.Allocated)
      L_FreeBitmap(&LeadBitmap);
   return SUCCESS;
}
