Activating Server License - Windows Server

Server Runtime License

Server applications (web or windows) written with LEADTOOLS, require a LEADTOOLS Server Runtime License. The Server Runtime License must be activated on the host machine.

You can activate a LEADTOOLS Server Runtime License either via an automated process or a manual process.

You can find both LEADTOOLS Server License Activators at the following location in the toolkit installation path: .\LEADTOOLS23\Support\Common\License\Bin Otherwise, you can download the LEADTOOLS Server License Activators from the following URLs:

  1. Automated Command-line Server License Activator (Host Requires Internet Access)

  2. Manual Server License Activator
    https://download.leadtools.com/support/license/LTLicActivator.exe

Automated Command-line Server License Activation

The automated server license activator requires internet access

  1. Copy the LTLicActivatorCLI.exe to the server machine that will host the application.
  2. As part of the installation process for the application, run the following script:

usage:         -il "arg1" -ik "arg2" -ap arg3 [-o "arg4"]   
arguments:   
               arg1: The path to the unactivated LEADTOOLS Server License file on the machine (Leadtools.lic)
               arg2: The LEADTOOLS Server License Developer Key contained in the .lic.key file OR the path to the file on the machine.
               arg3: The Activation Purpose flag. Can be one of the following: PRODUCTION, DR, QA, or BUILD.
               arg4: The optional path to save the activated license file. If absent, it will overwrite the source license file.

Manual Server License Activation

If your server cannot connect to the internet, use manual license activation.

  1. Run LTLicActivator.exe (the LEADTOOLS Server License Activator) on the server computer that will host your application.
  2. Copy the Machine Id text to the clipboard or save it to a file.
  3. On a machine that does have the ability to connect to the internet, visit: https://www.leadtools.com/support/activate-server-license.
  4. Select the original .LIC and .KEY files emailed to you from LEADTOOLS, and supply the copied Machine ID.
  5. Save the generated server .LIC and .KEY files (i.e., the activated licenses), and then use them in your server application.

Unactivated Server Runtime License

Note

When you deploy a server application that uses LEADTOOLS, it will run for only 7 days with an un-activated Server Runtime License.

The generated server .LIC file (i.e., the activated license), can only be used on the server where it was generated. If you attempt to use it on another machine you will receive an error.

The generated server .LIC file (i.e., the activated license), cannot be used with the LEADTOOLS Server License Activator. Only the original .LIC file emailed to you from LEADTOOLS can be used with the LEADTOOLS Server License Activator.
