Setting the UseDVDSource property in the play object to VARIANT_TRUE instructs the play object to use the DVD Source filter for DVD playback instead of the default DVD Navigator. Normally, for playback it is better to use the default DVD Navigator, because the DVD Navigator makes the playback act like a DVD (with menus). When the DVD Source filter is used, the DVD playback is more like the playback of a normal multimedia file. For example, the seek bar will function from the beginning of the selected playlist (edited through the ltmmDVDSource interfaces) to the end. There will be no menus. DVD Source was actually created for conversions. Using the DVD Source makes it possible to select the important parts of the video and ignore the rest. It also makes it possible to accurately preview the chapter selections being used for a conversion. Additionally, the DVD source allows you to programmatically select which audio track or subpicture stream to use. For example, a player application might want to automatically select the Spanish audio track or the French subtitles.
