Changes the distribution of the red, green, or blue channels.
Parameter | Description
pShadows | Pointer to structure used to adjust the dark tones.
pMidTone | Pointer to structure used to adjust the medium tones (midtones).
pHighLight | Pointer to structure used to adjust the bright tones (highlights).
bLuminance | Value that indicates whether to preserve luminance. Possible values are:
Value | Meaning | |
TRUE | Preserve luminance.
FALSE | Do not preserve luminance.
uFlags | Reserved for future use. Must be 0. |

The function was successful. |

This function changes the distribution of the red, green, or blue channels to make the colors in an image more accurate or more different.
Each color component is treated independently. The color range for each component is split into Shadows, Midtones and Highlights based on the intensity. The values in each range are adjusted differently using the BALANCEDATA structures. Positive values from BALANCEDATA for a component cause that particular component to become brighter, whereas negative values cause the component to become darker. A value of 0 leaves the component unchanged.
The preserve luminance option aims to minimize the luminance change in the image.
This function supports only RGB images. It does not support grayscale images.
Support for 48-bit and 64-bit colored images are available only in the Document/Medical toolkits.
To update a status bar or detect a user interrupt during execution of this function, refer to LBase::EnableStatusCallback.
This function does not support signed data images. It returns the error code ERROR_SIGNED_DATA_NOT_SUPPORTED if a signed data image is passed to this function.
This function does not support 32-bit grayscale images. It returns the error code ERROR_GRAY32_UNSUPPORTED if a 32-bit grayscale image is passed to this function.
